A Fine Balance

Name of the collection: A Fine Balance
Exhibition Venue: Arpana Caur Gallery, Siri Fort, New Delhi
Date: January 2012
The fine balance photography theme focuses on wider perspective and a sharp outlook which are the key elements of the composition. These pictures recognize the magic in the ordinary and the inherent beauty in the world around us.

Our mind constantly struggles with contradictory thoughts, and our daily lives are a continuous effort to balance our actions. This theme is captured through the fish-eye lens, which seeks to balance between the key elements of the composition.

We are forever grappling with things that are seemingly contradictory in nature, for example right vs. wrong, or being grounded vs. wanting to seek new experiences, wanting to blend in vs. standing out etc. And all our daily actions are towards balancing these contradictions. This thought has been captured visually using a fish-eye lens to accentuate the contrast of making certain elements stand out and push back other elements of the composition. The fish-eye lens gives the effect of looking into the world of contradictions through a peep-hole.

The collection of photograph hopes to bring into existence certain fleeting moments from our daily lives that might otherwise pass by.
